Things to do in FEZ
In this article I suggest you discover what to do and what to see in Fez. I will only present the historic part of Fez with the medieval medina of Fez-el-Bali.
**Get lost in the alleys of the medina Fez El-Bali**
The old town of Fez has a particularly important medieval medina which is still home to more than 150,000 habitants today. With its narrow streets, this labyrinth forms the most important pedestrian zone in the world.
The tanners' quarter in the medina of Fez el-Bali is undoubtedly one of the most extraordinary and impressive parts of the city.
**Visit the Medersa Bou Inania**
The medina of Fez has two medersas (Koranic schools) open to visitors. You begin your visit with the Medersa Bou Inania, a true marvel of Koranic architecture. It was built in the middle of the 14th century by Sultan Bou Inan who gave his name to the building.
The Medersa Bou Inania is organized around a splendid courtyard decorated with stucco and ornate wood. This medersa also has the particularity of including a mosque with a minaret.
**The Nejjarine Museum of Wood Arts and Crafts**
The very beautiful Nejjarine Museum on the Arts of Crafts and Wood is located in a former fondouk. A visit to this museum is worth at least as much for the exhibits as for admiring the superbly restored building steeped in history.
**El Glaoui Palace**
Last visit to Fez: the Glaoui Palace, a magnificent palace built at the beginning of the 19th century by the Pasha of Marrakech. This Palace now belongs to a Moroccan artist who inherited it without having the means to maintain such a monument, and who is today in a sad state of disrepair.
